MISSION STATEMENT:

Bachanalia is
a consort of professional musicians dedicated to innovative programming,
a high level of performance, and a collaborative philosophy that
does away with a conductor. Because of this collegial approach and
the quality of the members, many of whom are soloists in their own
right, Bachanalia is able to present music written for ensembles
Bachanalia brings
interesting and dynamic music to the public while performing in
spaces more intimate than the usual concert venues. Informative
narration about the music being performed and post-performance receptions
with the musicians creates an atmosphere in which the barrier between
the audience and classical performance disappears.
Bachanalia presents,
in a style faithful to the composer, the music of Bach and those
he has inspired across the ages.
Bachanalia commissions
and premieres works of contemporary
composers, both Eastern European and American.
Bachanalia fosters
multi-culture sensitivity and awareness through the
presentation of unusual or rarely performed classical works and
the introduction of folk instruments from around the world.
Bachanalia is in the
process of and aggressively seeking funding for chamber concerts
to be performed at elementary and secondary schools in the New York
metropolitan area. It is Bachanalia’s belief that exposure
to classical music is essential to any child’s proper education.
In an era when regular arts education funding is disappearing, it
is all the more important for professional performers to interact
with and inspire children. |
